The Marihuana Regulatory Agency, or MRA, is tasked with overseeing cannabis business licensing in Michigan. The MRA began accepting adult-use marijuana retail license applications on November 1, 2019. Furthermore, the Agency inspects all medical and recreational marijuana license applications. They also enforce Social Equity Programs.
These programs promote and encourage participation in the marijuana industry by people from communities that have been disproportionately impacted by marijuana prohibition and enforcement. Therefore, Social Equity Programs aim to positively impact those communities.
