- The City of Kalamazoo is allowing an unlimited number of marijuana facilities in approved areas
- Applications will be accepted beginning June 7
- General Liability insurance requirements – $1 million per occurrence, $2 million aggregate
At 8 am on June 7, 2018, the City of Kalamazoo will begin accepting applications for all five MMFLA license types – growers, processors, provisioning centers, secure transporters, and safety compliance facilities. The city will continue to accept applications until 5 pm on June 28, 2018. No applications will be accepting outside of those dates.
The maximum number of each type of medical marihuana commercial entities permitted in the City is as follows:

- Signed and completed application form
- All attachments indicated on the application
- Permit fees
- Photo ID of the person submitting the application
Within the application, the City of Kalamazoo is requiring proof of insurance (attachment F). They are requiring the following:
For All Medical Marihuana Facility Types
General liability insurance with minimum limits of $1,000,000 per occurrence and a $2,000,000 aggregate limit issued from a company licensed to do business in Michigan having an AM Best rating of at least B++. The policy shall name the City of Kalamazoo and its officials and employees as additional insured to the limits required.
For Secure Transporters (In Addition to Above)
A secure transporter shall provide proof of no-fault automobile insurance with a company licensed to do business in Michigan with limits of liability not less than $1,000,000 per occurrence combined single limit for bodily injury and property damage, vehicle registration, and registration as a commercial motor vehicle for all vehicles used to transport marihuana or marihuana-infused products.
